Hurricane Katrina = Extreme Disaster

August 30, 2005 3:50 pm

I am sure there is no way to feel what some of these people are feeling without going through this yourself. Just reading and hearing some of the victims stories breaks my heart. Kristin and I have talked about helping out by voluntering. You can only be dispatched down there by the red cross if you have had their training. We signing up for the training, if nothing else for the future. Please keep all those affected in your thoughts and prayers. They need every bit of strength and hope anyone can offer them.

Weekend Getaway…

1:55 pm

In other news, Kristin and I had a get-away for the weekend. We drove to St.Louis, Missouri Saturday. We spent the day at the Missouri Botanical Gardens (pics). It was very pretty, really made us want to pay a return visit in the spring when all the flowers are bloming. We had a nice diner at the Cheesecake Factory, one of our personal favorite places to eat. I always overeat when we eat there. Their portions are huge!

After dinner we went to REI, where they were having their annual fall clean out sale. (Man what great deals! Goodbye money.) We also wonder upon Trader Joe’s where they had Charles Shaw wine for 2.99 a bottle. Even if it isnt the “best” wine you have ever tasted, its dirt cheap. We bought a case, it will be nice for large gatherings.

Bedding for the night Saturday was provided at the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at, for a price of course. The Westin of St.Louis is across the street from Busch stadium. (Side note: We could actually see the inside of the new stadium and it looks very impressive. I shall greatly miss the old, but change is good.) It was the type of hotel you would see on the travel channel. When you walk in the lobby it had chairs and tables place about for lounging. The whole hotel was decorated in a modern decor. (pics).

Sunday morning we slept in and actually ate breakfast in bed. Around 11 we made our way to Grant’s Farm. (pics) We had a blast watching all people feeding the goats.

Time flies..

Wow hard to believe Kristin and I have been married for just short of two months. On top of that is weird to think that her sister, Jerrinne, is now married (she married her fiance AJ on this past Saturday). I am afraid to turn around because it might be 2029. I will be 50 years old and Kristin and I will be a year away from our 25th anniversary. Sad part of that is I will have only spent half of my life with my beautiful wife. I guess I had a lot of life lessons to learn before I was blessed with her presence.

Wine & Cheese Party

August 7, 2005 12:07 pm

Thanks to everyone that came, we had a blast. For those of you who did not make it, your lose. We definitely know how to throw down a wine & cheese party now. This was probably the first of many.

Big news!
