I still can not believe it myself, that I not only finished a 5K run, but finished it running. In other words, I ran the entire 5K. I would not have been able to complete such a feat if it werent for my beautiful wife who pulled me the last mile and kept reminding me to take slow deep breaths. She is an inspiration. And man was it hot. I thought I was going to pass out before we were halfway thru the race.
After the race we walked for a bit then I sat down on a curb, that is when I felt like I could really get sick. Man I just couldnt cool off. In the end it was very much worth it. $15, 2 free t-shirts, and feeling of death. ![]()

I dont know what is worse, going to the dentist and getting the shot or returning to work with a numb face, which requires talking on the phone. :S

So it’s hard to believe we have almost been back a week. This weekend flew by. Kristin scrapbooked with my sisters, so I posted all of our pictures up to date on the website except for our wedding pictures.
Kristin and I were talking this morning and she told me about a 5K Run here in Paducah that she saw a flyer for this morning. She wanted to know if I would to participate with her. I think it might kill me, but will be a good excuse to get my butt to the gym everyday this week.

Where do I ever begin? Kristin and I left on Thursday night (June 30) and flew into Seattle. We spent the night at her parents house and flew out the next morning to Anchorage, Alaska. Where we rented a car and headed out for Homer, Alaska.
Driving down the Seward Highway, which is mostly surrounded by park land, was very beautiful. Although there were some low clouds blocking the views of the tops of the mountains. I believe we were maybe 20 miles down the road and a Bald Eagle flew across the road and landed in a tree. So we of course had to stop and take pictures. We also saw a moose maybe 20 feet off the road before we got to Homer.
Saturday we got up and went Salmon fishing. On our way out to where we were going to fish we passed at least a hundred Sea Otters. The largest fish we almost caught pulled a swivel straight while trying to net it. It has to be at least 65 lbs or more. Both nights in Homer we stayed at a little Bed & Breakfast that this couple ran out of their house. It was nice and the breakfast was great!
Sunday we headed back north towards Anchorage. We stopped at Whittier in which to have to drive thru the tunnel to get to. That in its self was worth it. Not a lot to see in Whittier, it is mostly little buildings for tour guides. All of the Glacier cruises leave there and you can rent sea kayaks and paddle the glacier area. We drove through Anchorage and stopped at a little trail on the northern outskirts called Thunderbird Falls. It was only a half mile hike, but the mosiquitos at the end were horrible. So we only stayed long enough to get a picture. On the way back we had a black bear maybe 40 yards off the trail of us. Kristin freaked out, which was kinda funny. But she made such a commotion that I could not get a picture in time. That night we stayed at a B&B in Palmer that was ran by a man and his wife, of which the man is from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. So at breakfast we talked about the home state.
Monday we drove through Wasilla and stopped at the Headquarters for the Iditarod. That was very cool. There was a guy there with his dogs and puppies.
Tuesday we had a bus tour of Denali National Park. Which was not all we had hoped it to be, but the weather was not great either. We did see two moose at a good distance and Dall Sheep miles away up on the hill side. Kristin and I would have rather hiked more now instead, but we know what to do next time. And I do mean there will be a next time. That night evening we took a hike after dinner at about 10:30 or so down to Horseshoe Lake. The lake is mostly formed from a huge beaver dam. We were standing probably 2 feet from the water right next to the dam, when the beaver swam right up next to us with a stick in its mouth and placed it on the dam. That was too cool. I did get a picture.
Wednesday we drove back to Anchorage and checked out Lake Hood which is right next to the their International Airport. This lake is small but packed with float planes. There is one either taking off or landing like every 2 or 3 minutes. That was neat. Then we flew out that afternoon.
Thursday we were back in Seattle and my parents and two sisters arrived. We gave them the downtown tour hitting Pike Market and the Space Needle.
Friday we went to Mt. Rainier where we hiked about Paradise in the rain. That night we started preparing for the reception.
Saturday we had our BBQ reception that went over really well. Kristin’s aunts Robin and Cheryl put in a lot of work. A big thanks to them. That night we went with my family down the theatre under the market where they have theatre sports, which is all Improv. Great stuff.
Sunday dad and kristin’s dad, Gary, went hiking on Mt Si. While the rest of us made another trip into Seattle, were we stopped at REI.
Monday, Gary took my dad then the my sisters up flying. Which I think all of them really enjoyed. Kristin and I decided it was about time we had the chance to sleep in. We all met up and went to the Museum of Flight, then over to a tour of Joe’s bakery which produces Franz bread, donuts, and buns.
Tuesday, we returned home.
